Picture Match: An Alphabet Memory Game for Kids

Flip two cards and find the pairs. Picture Match is a gentle memory game for kids ages 3 to 6, built from the pictures in each Streaming Potato show.

How to play

Pick 3 pairs for a quick, easy game or 6 pairs for a bigger one. Tap a card to flip it, then tap another. If the pictures match, they stay face up. If they don't, both cards turn back over and you try again. Find every pair to earn three stars.

Gentle on purpose

There's no clock, no score to beat and no penalty for a miss. Cards stay face up long enough for a child to take a good look before they flip back. Each card says its word out loud when it turns over, so kids hear “apple,” “ant” and “alligator” again and again while they play.

What kids practice

A memory game asks kids to hold a picture and its place in mind, and to look closely for what's the same. Because every picture comes from a show they just watched, they're also naming the words that go with that episode's letter, and the first letter is highlighted on every card.

Each new show adds its own set of pictures, so the game grows along with the alphabet. The 6-pair game also slips in a card with the big and little letter side by side.

Tips for grown-ups

  • Play together and take turns flipping cards.
  • Ask “what's this one called?” before the card says it.
  • For the youngest players, start with 3 pairs and talk about where each picture is hiding: “the apple is in the corner.”

Private by design

This game runs entirely in your browser. There are no accounts, nothing is recorded, and nothing your child does in the game is sent to us. Spoken prompts use a voice that is already on your device, and the sound on/off choice is remembered only in your browser.
