Murphy and the Kooky KiteA Letter K Adventure for Kids
NOW STREAMING
The story
Murphy is flying his new kite on a windy hill above a lakeside campground, until a gust snaps the string and the kite floats away. Its long string trails across a cabin porch, where a kitten pounces on it, and then it lands on a picnic table, where a whistling kettle's puff of steam whooshes it up over the trees. Down at the lake it lands on an empty kayak that floats away, until a kind kingfisher takes the string in its beak and flies the kite back to Murphy.
Who Murphy meets
The KittenLoves to pounce on anything that wiggles, like a kite string.
The KayakA yellow kayak that bobs by the dock, ready for a ride.

For parents
Murphy chases his kite around a lakeside campground, and every friend and thing he finds starts with the “k” sound in kite: kite, kitten, kettle, kayak and kingfisher. Each word pops up next to a big letter K, and Murphy says “K is for…” after each one, so kids see the letter and hear its sound together.
How do I help my child say the K sound?
Open your mouth a little and make a quick “k,” like the start of kite or kitten. The back of the tongue pops up and lets go. It's the same sound C makes in cat.
How do I help my child write a little k?
Start at the top with a tall line straight down. Then, from the middle, slant in to touch the line and slant back out to the bottom. The Trace It game shows that order with arrows.
