Murphy and the Giant GiftA Letter G Adventure for Kids
NOW STREAMING
The story
It's Grandma's birthday, and Murphy flies to her farm with a giant gift. He sets it down by the fence, and a curious goat nibbles the ribbon and trots off with it, through the goat pen and into Grandma's garden, where he drops it between the cabbages. Then a gentle goose takes the ribbon in her beak and waddles it all the way to the porch, right to Grandma's feet. It was for her all along! Happy birthday, Grandma!

02Goose walkWaddle like a goose across the room carrying a soft toy. Honk at every stop and say a G word: go, game, gum, goat.
03Make a card for GrandmaDraw a birthday card for a grandparent or a friend. Write a big G on the front and draw a gift, a goat or a goose.
For parents
Murphy follows Grandma's birthday gift across her farm, and every friend and place he finds starts with the hard “g” sound in go: gift, goat, garden, goose and Grandma. Each word pops up next to a big letter G, and Murphy says “G is for…” after each one, so kids see the letter and hear its sound together.
How do I help my child say the G sound?
Open your mouth a little and make a quick sound in the back of your throat: “g,” like the start of go. It's short, so try not to add “uh.” Kids can feel it by putting a hand on their throat.
What about the soft G in giraffe?
G can also sound like “j,” as in giraffe and gem. This episode sticks with the hard G in go, which most kids learn first. The soft G is easier once the hard G feels familiar.
