The story
Murphy is having a picnic at the zoo when he folds a purple paper plane, tosses it, and a breeze carries it away. It glides into the parrot garden, where a parrot catches it in her beak and flaps it over the wall. In the panda garden it lands by a panda munching bamboo, who pokes it and sends it scooting off. It slides onto the ice, where a penguin pops out of the pool and belly-slides it all the way to the pond. Then a helpful pelican scoops it up in her pouch and flies it right back to Murphy.

For parents
Murphy chases his paper plane all over the zoo, and every friend and thing he finds starts with the letter P: plane, parrot, panda, penguin and pelican. Each word pops up next to a big letter P, and Murphy says “P is for…” after each one, so kids see the letter and hear its sound together.
What sound does P make?
P makes a quick puff of air with your lips pressed together, like in plane, panda and penguin. Hold a hand in front of your mouth and say “p, p, p”: you should feel a little puff each time.
How do I help my child write a little p?
Start at the middle line and go straight down below the bottom line, then go back up and make a round bump to the right, ending on the line. The Trace It game shows it with arrows.
