Murphy is drawing in his brand-new notebook at sunset when a breeze flips it out of his lap and up into the tree, right into a nest of baby birds. They peep and wiggle until it slides out and plops onto a lily pad next to a friendly newt, who nudges it onto the grass. As night falls and the stars come out, a night breeze lifts the notebook over the fence, where the neighbor is catching fireflies. Swish! She catches it in her net and brings it back to Murphy.

Each word pops up next to a big letter N, and Murphy says “N is for…” after each one, so kids see the letter and hear its sound together.
Put the tip of your tongue behind your top teeth and hum through your nose: “nnn,” like the start of nest or night. Kids can feel it buzz in their nose.
Start at the middle line and draw a short line down. Go back up, make a hump over to the right and come back down. The Trace It game shows that order with arrows.
